I have always been an active individual who loves participating in a wide variety of physical activities and so it only seemed fitting I pursue a degree relating to exercise, fitness and the human body. I graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, a minor in Sports Nutrition and a new found love of pushing my body in different physical domains. Since I started running cross country my freshman year of highschool I have competed in a wide array of endurance events ranging from Super Sprint Triathlons to Ultra Endurance Mountain Bike races. I thrive on continuously learning the ins-and-outs of how the body works, how to best prepare it for the physical challenges an endurance events presents, and conveying this knowledge to fellow athletes who are chasing their own personal fitness dreams and goals.
BS in Kinesiology, Cal Poly SLO
USA Triathlon Level II Certified Coach
USA Cycling Level 3 Certified Coach
Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, NSCA
Certificate in Applied Functional Science, Gray Institute
When I was in elementary school I remember loving to play, board games, sports, tag, make believe, it didn't matter what I just wanted to play. By the time I entered high school I had begun to compete and loved challenging myself against my teammates and opponents. During college I used intramural and club sports to feed my hunger for active play and competition. Since graduating I've continued to use endurance sports to stay active, develop healthy social relationships and overcome personal challenges.
My love for being physically active lead me to pursue a BS in Kinesiology. By exploring how the body moves and works I have developed a passion for better understanding how best to incorporate functional, fun, and safe exercise into our daily lives. I believe everyone should be able to live a life full of enjoyable movement.
For me the gym is a place where I get ready for adventure. My eye is not on the elliptical. It is on the mountains I will climb and the events I will conquer. My hope is that in sharing my adventures with you, I will inspire you to find your own adventures. Let's keep building strength and health together. Then we can share the stories of the exciting places our bodies take us.
While I will answer fastest if you comment directly on my blog posts, you can also contact me directly. I love to hear about the challenges that other people are setting for themselves.
Send me a message, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
